Doctor's assistant

Working as a doctor's assistant? Count on not being bored. You start the day with your colleagues, going through the diary together, taking phone calls and welcoming patients. Then everything gets mixed up: supervising consultations, helping the doctor, taking care of practical matters. And then suddenly: an emergency, a result or a question that has to be dealt with immediately. So your working day flies by and you notice how indispensable you are for patients and colleagues.

Your working day

Your day starts with the phone. Patients call with a variety of questions: from a harmless cold to an emergency. You listen, ask pointed questions and assess what is needed - an advice, an appointment or consultation with the director doctor in the back office. While the morning gets underway, you help people at the front desk make appointments or answer questions about their treatment, medication or results.

Do you have some space in between? Then you process examination results, correspondence and administration. You keep the diaries of GPs and practice support staff clear, so that they have the right information and do not get lost in their diaries.

’In the afternoon you have your own surgery. You perform minor medical procedures independently, such as taking blood pressure, blowing out ears, removing stitches or taking smears. In between, you consult with the GP where necessary and coordinate with colleagues.

Why your work matters

Thanks to your knowledge, insight and organisational skills, everything runs smoothly, even on the busiest days. You keep the overview, set the right priorities and ensure that every patient gets exactly what he needs, at the right time. The work is varied, challenging and dynamic - no two days are the same, and you immediately see the difference you make. Patients feel heard and helped, colleagues can rely on you. That makes this job not only valuable, but also incredibly fun, energetic and satisfying - day after day.

Your new workplace
